Animals, food, music, free stuff, and lots of people = the Kentucky State Fair...it's a pretty big deal in these parts.

David Beckham.

So...in some non-related news to our lives, David Beckham scored his first goal for the LA Galaxy team. If you know me, you know that I love soccer and that I have a weird fascination with celebrities...and David Beckham is both a soccer player and a celebrity! haha! So here's a clip:

The Office

The next season of The Office starts Thursday, September 27 9/8c. I can't wait!

Kimmel!

My good friend Elizabeth Kimmel from highschool/college came to visit this weekend. We had a great time shopping at "The Summit" (an outdoor shopping center), eating at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Louisville, and hanging out by the Riverfront. It was great to catch up and spend some time together before the craziness of the semester begins. Here's some pictures:

It has begun!

The beginning of the new semester is upon us.

Braden is taking a full load, for seminary...3 classes/9 units. He's taking Intro to Old Testament, Intro to New Testament, and Church History. He will go Tues./Thurs. and will continue to work at UPS (M-F) and Panera (Fridays). I am also taking classes this semester as part of the Seminary Wives Institution. The program is really neat and I am excited about learning, hearing good teaching, and meeting other seminary wives.

Orientation was held this morning/afternoon today up at the school so now Braden is officially ready to start class this coming Tuesday. I'm excited for him!

This evening a service was held where seminary students brought their wives and afterward there was an ice cream social. We met some other couples that have just moved to the area just like us. It was nice to hear that others are going through a similar experience of finding their way around town, looking for jobs, looking for a church home, being away from family, friends, and the familiar, etc. So...we're not the only crazy ones doing this! haha!

One year later....

Sunday, July 29th was our one year wedding anniversary....we finally "celebrated" tonight...with going to see the opening of Bourne Ultimatum (which we both really liked being as we already Bourne fans) and dinner out. Time sure has gone by quick, and we have accomplished quite a bit since last July.

• We have successfully moved to two different states on almost opposite sides of the country (from MO to CA and from CA to KY)
• Braden graduated from The Master's College and is now enrolled for seminary classes that start later this month at Southern
• I learned to cope with being hundreds of miles from my family and close friends, which for me is big....it still can be hard at times, even though we're alot closer to home now, but it really has taught me the lesson of being content.
• We have made some great friends in new places and kept ones from where we started.
• We have learned alot about each other and will continue to for...forever! At times, it's no walk in the park, especially if there is added stress with finances, work, school, etc. but it's all worth it. I pray that while doing so we remember the perfect marriage example of Christ and his bride, the church. Looking at those verses in Ephesisans 5 are such an encouragement at times.
• And much, much more!

Welcome to KY!

Here's pictures from our fun weekend with Josh who came to visit us all the way from California. I think he missed us as much as we missed him after we left.

Casey (boy), Alicia, Braden, and I went to pick him up from the airport on Saturday morning. Gave him a quick tour of both of our apartments then we decided to make a big breakfast instead of going out for one. Five minutes after "we" started here's what Josh and Braden looked like:Typical. We eventually got them to wake up and we all enjoyed a great meal on Casey and Alicia's porch:

Next we wanted to show Josh Southern Seminary where Casey (boy) and Braden will be starting classes in a few weeks. Here's some fun and goofy pictures we took around the campus:

Later that night we ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory (my favorite) and went down to Fourth Street Live and walked around:

Sunday Braden and I went to visit Clifton Baptist Church again. We both like it the most out of the churches we have visited so far here in Louisville.

Later we met up with Casey, Alicia, and Josh and spent the day shopping! We also went to this great coffee shop that my father-in-law (the coffee expert) recommended. At our last stop, Josh said he need to get something "personal" at the drug store. He came out with this in his arms:

Apparently, Casey (boy) and Alicia were running out of toilet paper. haha! I think they'll be stocked for quite a while!

It was such a treat to have Josh come visit for a couple of days. He definitely livened things up a bit.

Jag Star and Lifehouse

So Kentucky suprisingly does have concerts other than country! Last night Braden, Alicia, and I (Mr. Casey had to work) went down to "4th Street Live", as they call it and saw Lifehouse and their opening band called Jag Star. The concert was free if you got there before 6:30, and of course we did. haha! There's a Hard Rock Cafe, Lucky Strike (a cool bowling alley), and some other restaurants and bars down there that we may just have to go back for another visit. Apparently there are alot of concerts that go on at Fourth Street all the time...and summer is the best time for concerts!

Our good friend Josh Rivas that we met during our stay in California will be paying us a visit next weekend! We're so excited! Maybe we can talk him into staying?.....ha!
