Quick Little Hat

I made this hat last night for Callie, it took me about 30 minutes to complete from start to finish. Pretty great considering I ended up making two hats with the yarn which I got for 40% off! Two cute hats for $3.81 and 30 minutes of my time = success in my book!

I've made this hat several times in the past and last night when I made this one, I finally wrote down how I did it. Here it is:For a 9-12 months size:
*Ch2

*DC 8 st. into first st. to make a circle. Join with sl. st. Ch 2. (8)

*2 DC in each st., repeat around. Join with sl. st. Ch 2. (16)

*1 DC in first st. 2 DC in second st., repeat around. Join with sl. st. Ch. 2. (24)

*1 DC in first st., 1 DC in second st., 2 DC in third st., repeat around. Join with sl. st. Ch. 2. (32)

*1 DC in first st., 1 DC in second st., 1 Dc in third st., 2 DC in fourth st., repeat around. Join with sl. st. Ch. 2.

*1 DC in first st., 1 DC in second st., 1 Dc in third st., 1 DC in fourth st., 2 DC in fifth st., repeat around. Join with sl. st. Ch. 2.

*1 DC in each st. around for the next 5 rows or to desired length. Join with sl. st. Ch. 2.

*1 SC in each st. around for 2 rows.

Note: You can either add or subtract the amount of increase rows depending on the size hat that you want. For a newborn size do 4 increase rounds (ending with round 1DC, 1DC, 2DC). 8 rounds total of DC and 2 rounds of SC.

P.S. I don't mind if you make this hat to sell or give to family/friends, but please just be sure to link back and give credit to where credit is due. Thanks!

Snow Day = Project Day

Being snowed in today, I've had a little extra time on my hands to work on/finish a few knitting/crochet projects. Here's what I've been up to lately:

I knit this warm hat for my sister for her Birthday last month. I made an extra one too and put it up for sale in my shop. Check it out if you're interested:Knitted more than a couple of these teddy bears for friends who are expecting/had a baby recently (pattern found here):Started crocheting a blanket for my other sister, whose Birthday is next month (pattern found here):
And for my Callie girl, I've been slowly knitting a little sweater for her to wear next fall...it's my first sweater, and I know it'll take me a while, so that's why I've stared so far in advance. Here's what it looks like so far (and the end result and pattern can be found here):It pays to be a friend of a knitter/crocheter! :)

And just for kicks, here is a recent picture of Callie in her Bumbo!

Wave Blanket

Here is my latest work in progress...it's a blanket I am crocheting out of a rainbow of colors:Someday it will fit on a twin-full size bed, but I have alot of work to do on it first.
I slowly work on it as I feel like it and hope that someday our kids will use it :)

Projects!

I've had alot more free time lately (since quitting my job! lol!) so to show that I have been somewhat productive with my time, here is a post of some of the projects I've been working on...of course besides keeping the apt. clean, making dinner every night, being able to hit the gym more than 3 times a week, etc. etc. etc. ( I watched The King and I last week). So basically this is a "look what I can do" post. Sorry if it bores you, but I'm proud of myself...plus, you probably wouldn't be reading this if you weren't bored already anyways!

Ok, well my first project to show you started with these:Old, scrap fabric that I cut into about 1 1/2" strips. Then I crocheted into this:An adorable rug that would look so cute in a little girl's room...I'm still deciding weather I want to sell it in my etsy shop or not.

Next is SOCKS! Yes! I can knit socks...well, I haven't made the twin for this one yet: It's actually not as hard as I thought it would be...although, I did have to watch a few YouTube videos when I got stuck on some stitches that I had never done before. Here's what it looks like in progress, yarn and needles everywhere! : )And lastly, the blanket that I am crocheting for Grandma Mary. Her favorite color is blue, and I swear everything in her house has some shade of blue on it...so why not add some more! : )I'm hoping to finish before it gets too warm outside...if not, she'll have it for next season.
Guess that's all for now! : )
Update: Idea for rag rug here, knit sock pattern is from a book I got at the library called "Easy Knitted Socks" by Jeanette Trotman, and the blue crocheted blanket pattern here

Welcome to 2009!

We spent Christmas in St. Louis, New Year's in Louisville, and we even managed to make a trip to Cincinatti as well...with all that travel time in the car I've been working on a new project, crocheting a blanket. My friends April and Leah taught me and now i'm finally hooked (no pun intended, seriously! lol!)...my first attempt left me frustrated, but these two gals patiently helped me get started on my second go around, and i love it!

By the way, check out their Etsy shops: here for April's crochet work and here for Leah's jewelry.

Here's a pic of the blanket i'm currenty working on:
