Looking back on 2007

Some exciting things have gone on for us this past year....here's some highlights:
Braden finished up his undergraduate work in Biblical counseling at The Master's College in Santa Clarita, California. And although we were sad to leave the "Golden State", right after graduation in May, we packed up all our things and headed back across the country to Louisville, Kentucky. There Braden began his Master's of Divinity in Biblical counseling at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in August.

When we moved to Kentucky we had no apartment lined up, but by God's grace, it only took a few phone calls before we found a place to park the moving truck. Shortly after we had signed the papers and moved in! Within a month or two we both found jobs, and a church to attend...so for now we have made Louisville our "home". Braden's studies will take at least 3 years to complete, but after that we aren't quite sure where we'll be...but we have time to pray and seek God's will for what He would have us do next.

We have been very blessed to have been able to experience so much together in our year and a half of marriage and are very thankful that we have been granted favor in so many different areas of our life. We are now closer to our families in St. Louis and Braden is working hard at studies and really enjoys being a seminary student. I'm about to start a permanent position at the hospital I have been temping at. I'm really excited to be doing something new and different. I've been temping ever since we first moved to California, so it will be nice to finally have something more stable again.
I'm excited to see what 2008 will bring!

Trip to Cincinnati, Ohio

Friday after I got off work Braden and I decided to drive up to Cincinnati, Ohio which is only about a hour and a half north of Louisville. We thought it would be fun to get out for the weekend and stay in a hotel since we racked up some Hilton honors points. Also, we wanted to check out the Creation Museum which we have heard about from some friends. It was very neat. Definitely worth the $20/person. The museum was obvoius in the beliefs which they held - the Biblical account of creation and the history of the world as recorded in Scripture. The place was packed, so I only managed to get a few picture of some dinosaurs, most of which were not blogworthy.
Downtown Cincinnati had quite a bit to do even in the freezing cold. We walked around a little, took some pictures:
...and it wasn't hard to find the outdoor ice rink: Other than that, we did some shopping with money we got for Christmas, ate some good food, and slept in our king size bed! What a treat! :)

Zach's Senior Pictures

My handsome brother Zachary is a senior this year at Christian High School. I can't believe it's time for him to graduate already! He is a good student and excelled greatly in soccer, especially in the last few years and his team got 1st at state this past season! I can't wait to see what the next chapter brings in my little brother's life... : )
My mom took his senior pictures a few weeks ago before it got real cold outside. They turned out really well and it's a heck of alot cheaper to do it yourself, especially if you have a decent camera! Here's some of my favorites:

Thanksgivingness

Traveled to St. Louis for Thanksgiving...good time with family and friends...lots and lots of turkey, all the fixings, and pumpkin pie! Yum!

The Theules came with us (since they couldn't make it back to CA) and got to finally meet our families and see our stomping grounds. So glad they could join us!
We even got to hang out with the Hackmanns (in town from Chicago) for a while on Sat. night after the big Mizzou game! GO MIZZOU! : )

...Now it's back to work in Louisville, and Braden has finals this week as well...I'm counting down days until Christmas! Yea!

Here's some highlights from this past week:

Christmas card photo shoot!

Yesterday afternoon/early evening we went downtown Louisville to take pictures for our Christmas cards this year. The Theules joined us and took shots of us, and we in turn did the same for them...so I'm sure our Christmas cards will be pretty similar, but I think only one person will notice besides us, Josh.

It seemed like we were doing engagement pictures again, but they give you a little glimpse of what the downtown area looks like here in Louisville.
Here's the pictures that didn't make it, which still turned out pretty good:
If you're on "the list" you'll see what the finished product looks like when it comes in the mail. : )

Trip to Evansville

I went to Evansville, Indiana (which is about an hour and a half from Louisville) this past weekend to meet my mom and sister Kendra for her soccer tournament. It was fun getting to hang out and watch some soccer. Unfortunately Kendra twisted her ankle in the second half of her team's first game and it swelled up so bad she could barely walk on it...but we made the best of the situation and spent the rest of the weekend cheering her teammates on.

The unfortunate event:
Pushing the gimp around:
Kendra sad for a swollen ankle, and mom is happy to be out of the cold: Out to dinner with the team

My UPS man

Last week, Braden got his training to be a driver helper at his job at UPS. This week he recieved his "browns" and has already worked a shift riding around in the truck delivering packages. Here's a visual aid to explain what "browns" are:
