  1. What size of crochet hook did you use?

  2. Oops! Forgot to include that, sorry. I used an H hook (5.00mm). And the yarn is Lionbrand Homespun.

  3. Thank you so much! I'm having a baby boy and want to make him this to match his fuzzy teddy bear hat I already made him. So cute! Good job and thanks for sharing!!!

  4. Thanks so much for this FREE pattern! I just used it to make a pink one for my photographer friend. I'm wondering if you have any measurements of your finished product. I'm using a different type of yarn and used a slightly larger hook to compensate and, although it looks like the right size, i'm wondering if it really is. Any help would be great since I dont have a newborn to try the size! :)

  10. Attempting to make this adorable cover! A few questions?
Are you counting the chain as the first stitch?
Crochet in the same stitch as chain at beginning of the row?
Crochet in the chain at the end of the row?

Sorry for so many questions lol I'm still a beginner on reading patterns!

Hi I'm Lacey- I'm 13 and I've made a million of these diaper covers. but the reason I have is because my friend's mother photographs babies that have passed away during birth if the parents want her to sort of as a memorial photo. So I made some hats from someone else and i make one of these matching diaper covers and I sell them 20$ a set. I was wondering if that was okay with you- I'm really sorry if it isn't and I'll use another if it's not. Thank you- goodbye! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  12. asheborochik - on the first 3 rows you will have 45 across, then after that you will have 23 and will decrease 2 stitches for every row. hope that helps!

Lacey B. - That is fine! I'd love to see pictures of your finished diaper covers though! :) If you have a ravelry account, here is my link: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/newborn-diaper-cover-2

  16. Teri - Right when I got mine back, I sold it to a friend! Sorry, I'll have to make a new one :) It looks smaller than you'd think, but I put my up against a newborn diaper (the swaddlers kind) and it covers it.

Lacey B. - looking forward to seeing your pics! :)

Was wondering if when you sew on the button you go through both layers ~ the flap and the underpiece, as don't see how the underpiece would stay without it?

    thanks!

  21. Quick question, do u single crochet around the whole diaper cover or just finish the last row with sc?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am trying to make this with double strands of yarn (which would make it 8 ply and a much bigger hook, size N) a chain of 45 would be way too big. Any suggestions on how to do that?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jen - I went all the way around to give it a more "finished" look.

Nikki - I haven't tried it with thicker yarn so I wouldn't be much help.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sarah7:38 PM

I made this the other day and was just making sure that when finished, the front of the diaper cover should sorta come to a point? the last few rows makes it smaller and smaller correct? Thanks!! It is super adorable!

    What does TOG stand for?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thank you sooo much for the pattern. I wanted to make this for a friend's baby girl. Yours came out great! I pinned it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous2:49 PM

TOG stands for together - it's a double crochet decrease like a slip stitch is a single crochet decrease. There are some good instructional videos on YouTube that can show you how to do it if you don't already know. It was easier for me to learn by watching someone than reading instructions. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sarah - The front does get smaller, but it doesn't come to a point. If you have a ravelry account, I added the link at the bottom of the post. Check it out to see more pictures of other people's diaper covers.

Amy - So glad you like it! Enjoy! :)

  32. I was wondering if you can use this over cloth diapers or just disposables?

    Thanks, Kathy

  33. Hi! This is Lindsey again, I love these diaper covers! I have made one with a matching hat and am about to start a hat for another. I am going to blog about it once I finish 1-2 more sets, just to show a variety of options :) I gave ruffly edges to the baby girl one, it's so sweet. Here is my blog url www.knitlessknitter.blogspot.com I will ler ypu know when I put them up.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kathy - I wouldn't reccommend using one of these covers over cloth diapers. The fit would be too loose to hold moisture in. I have, however, used this free pattern before for my babies and it worked great! http://crochetcastle.blogspot.com/2009/04/easiest-crochet-wool-soaker-pattern.html

  105. Oh mylanta...this pattern is one big hot mess. I'm pretty sure it can be figured out by those who know better but for others that may just be beginners....no way....I'm horrible at math too but I don't even think the math adds up when decreasing rows and such. I think in the future, it's nice to continually list the number of rows that you should have for every row to but at the very least, let someone know if you're using the chain as the stitch or not....typically,if you chain 46 in a starting chain (single crochet), you will end up with 45 as your final when crocheting in the 2nd chain from hook.
