88 Days!

You know Christmas is quickly approaching when your mom asks you for your Christmas list! I looked it up today and there are only 88 days left! Dang. Good thing I love Christmas.

I knit these mini mittens yesterday in hopes of bringing cooler weather:
It worked cause the weather has cooled off and looks like it's going to stay that way!

Baked Oatmeal

My mom has been talking about a baked oatmeal recipe she's been making alot lately and I got to try it when we were in town this past weekend. Let me tell you, it's amazing! Like having an oatmeal cookie!
Here is the recipe:
3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
3/4 cup dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, etc.)
1/3 chopped walnuts

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Spread in a baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

I know there are much healthier versions of this recipe out there...but who can resist butter and brown sugar with your oats? :)

ABC Blanket

Isn't this an amazingly cute baby blanket!?!: image found here

The pattern that was used as inspiration to make the above mentioned blanket was one from a Debbie Bliss pattern from her book called The Baby Knits Book. I couldn't find it at the library or online for a price I was willing to pay since I just wanted the one pattern!

SOOooooo...I made my own pattern...well, sort of. I found a website that had the pattern(s) for individual dishcloths of the alphabet in the perfect size to make the blocks I wanted. I decided to knit them in strips (like a scarf) to cut down on seaming...ha! And BAM! Here's a peek at my progress so far: This one will probably be on the needles for a while since I hardly ever get a chance to pick it up between all of the other projects I have started. But I'm excited to see how it finishes. Still contemplating what I should do for the backside...

New...

I've been trying to get things updated and posted on my etsy shop as of late. It's always a work in progress since there are so many things I'd rather make for Callie (and myself! Haha!). But currently I have a few items in my shop. These are included:Click here to have a better look :)

little legs

These little legs are moving all over the place:

Thomas Sweater

I babysit a little boy named Thomas on Tuesday nights while his parents attend their church community group. Thomas recently had his 1st Birthday and Callie and I were invited to his Birthday party. I knew I wanted to knit him something special and I finally decided on a knit pullover. Here it is as a work-in-progress:I finished it in time for his Birthday party, but it ended up that our car wouldn't start the day of and we ended up not being able to go. I completed it and plan on giving it to him soon...better late than never, right? :)It was a relatively quick knit from bottom to top and I love the simple seed stitch collar, cuffs, and bottom edging.
